Canadian Soprano Tessa Laengert made a principal role debut last year in a newly commissioned opera in Toronto at the celebrated Luminato Festival in Laura's Cow: The Legend of Laura Secord.

This season Tessa opened The Met: Live in HD performances with pre-show performances at Cineplex Odeon in Toronto.

This summer Tessa will be performing the role of "Elizabeth" with Music Niagara in a newly commissioned opera Laura Secord, and the role of "Mimi" in La Boheme with Summer Opera Lyric Theatre.

Last summer Tessa travelled to Italy to perform the roles of "Nella" in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and "The First Lady" in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Accademia Europea Dell'Opera.

Tessa frequently performs with the Canadian Opera Company in such productions as Turandot, Queen of Spades, Rigoletto, Orfeo ed Euridice, Idomeneo, Die Walküre, part of the Ring Cycle, Boris Godunov and more in both chorus and acting roles.

Tessa received a full scholarship to the University of Toronto's Bachelor of Music Voice Performance program where she studied for four years with Lorna Macdonald and two years with Jean MacPhail for her Artist Diploma.

Tessa is employed by The Canadian Children's Opera Company as a vocal coach and conductor to the Butterfly and Ruby Choruses, and is Artistic Director of The Summerhill Music Studio.
